"Life is not what it's supposed to be. It's what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference." Virginia Satir.
I have respect for the unique coping strategies that we've created, during times when we just didn't think we could cope. It came to us for a very important reason. For instance, binging is a creative way to fill ourselves up with the love we so desire. Often times to be followed with a dreadful sense of shame, that purging helps us dissolve. Social anxiety is a fantastic way to help us avoid erroneous beliefs that we just simply are not good enough. Misusing a substance is an effective way to numb out or avoid our responsibilities at work, life or in relationships. What once was in service to us, has now enslaved us.
In individual therapy, we will explore your life and relational experiences, your values, your belief system, your genetics, intergenerational themes and coping strategies. My goal is to administer encouragement and optimism, following along side of you during this journey. How can we bring you home to yourself? How might we move through painful experiences by honoring your resiliency and move you towards a life of joy?
